How to get volumetric 3D effectsWe start from a flat 2D image such as the following figure:
Processing the imageTo build the 3D effect based on the original flat image, the constituent objects of the scene are associated in a type of elevation map which represents the proximity or distance of these objects with regard to the camera. The lighter areas are close to the viewer and the darker areas are further away.
ResultsOnce the innovative algorithms of Imagiam’s software have been applied to the lenticular plastic, a 3D impression of the scene is obtained. The following animation shows something of what the human eye will finally end up seeing: |
