PathOptimizer How it works
The operation of the program is very simple: first, a mask is generated with Photoshop and then PathOptimizer makes an optimal path automatically.
First make the selection
The following figure represents a selection that we want to convert to a path. The selection was made in just a few seconds with MaskWarrior because the object we are interested in is on a homogenous background.
Now enter the parameters
PathOptimizer only needs a Tolerance and Path Type. "Straight lines" resolves the problems of some PostScript interpreter imagesetters that "crash" with too many vertices, while Bezier Curves is ideal for eliminating backgrounds.
Results
The following figure illustrates the path obtained: a true reproduction of the original selection with just 26 vertices. No other converter is capable of achieving such an accurate figure. Furthermore, the quality obtained with PathOptimizer is also better (see Comparisons with other programmes).
Finally, it is worth mentioning that PathOptimizer has an optional statistics function that shows data that may be of interest, such as the number of vertices achieved or the memory used up by the path.
